In addition to our unique curriculum, Oakwood provides many special events, clubs and field trips throughout the year that help students develop self-esteem, leadership, new interests and good sportsmanship!

Special Events:

All students in the school participate in school-wide special events such as our Halloween fashion parade, Holiday & Spring concerts, Terry Fox run, International Day, bake sales & spirit days.
Students at Oakwood also have the opportunity to participate in special events at our partner school St. Jude’s Academy. St. Jude’s has weekly House assemblies, a Science Fair, Track & Field Days and sports tournaments that our students may also enjoy!

Oakwood Store:

The Senior students at Oakwood operate a weekly store for other students to purchase snacks from. The store provides a great opportunity for all students to practice social interaction and everyday math skills. Of course everyone looks forward to buying a treat as well!

Field Trips:

Throughout the year there are school-wide or specific class trips for students to participate in. We also have opportunities for students to go into the community and further develop essential social skills.

Extra Curricular:

Students may participate in extra curricular activities that run through St. Jude’s Academy. These clubs are an opportunity for students to further develop an area of interest and to interact with new students. Activities include Karate, Piano, Dance, Drama, Track & Field, Crafts & Computers.
